It's for a highly tuned Turbo in that instance. It makes little difference to be honest Jamie. :) I'd love a twin exit (y)

So why did Lancia stop doing them on the Delta's and see another 10bhp iirc

(quoting Aaron here btw.lol)

You can't say that because in one application of car, for one exhaust fitment, that you will lose 10bhp on every car that is fitted with a twin exit. Maybe there was a problem with that particular car?

Anyhow it's only 10 brake, That' s peanuts to us coupe owners  :p :D

Hmm ok then can't be arsed to argue bout exhaust pressure for turbo's etc...

it was my understanding on a turbo car, after the turbo the design of the exhaust system does not matter. you just want rid of the gasses, with no back pressure. so ideally a dump to atmosphere right after the turbo (bit like vivs smart when it boosts!).

On a turbocharged car, no back pressure is needed. The object is to get rid of the gasses as fast as possible, with no restriction. I think Jamie is trying to indicate that a twin exit exhaust would cause more back pressure than a normal straight through system.

Jamie is indicating i'm just going by what i've been told and that how some cars have tried dual exits and dropped them due to losing power... :D

It's widely accepted that unless your car has 6 or 8 cylinders a twin exit exhaust which does not come from the 2 diff banks on the engine and therefore has in effect 2 exhaust running down the lenght of the car, is power saping, its to do with the way exhaust gasses leave the car and as Jamie pionted out why Lancia dropped the twin exit on the integrale EVO over the earlier 16V and gained not only 10bhp but 15lbs of torque.

And I can't think of a car better in need of some extra power than those coupe boys ;)

But I am in agreement, asthetically they look good!

Aaron.
