My 1985 Pininfarina turn signal stays on after completing a turn. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Obviously, I can manually turn it off. The blinker dash light does work properly indicating when it is on or off.
Thanks

Does it do it in both directions?
If so the cancel device on steering shaft may be out of line.
If one side only then probably needs a new switch assembly.

Both sides. How do I check alignment? The car came with another switch assembly that I found in the trunk. Is it very hard to replace the unit? The unit has light switch and wiper arms as well as turn signal arm. The turn signal did cancel itself when I manually turned the center ring.
Thank you

Is it possible the centre ring is half a turn out?
This has the affect of the steering in most cases not turning enough to trigger the cancel operation.
Regard changing the unit, I cannot specifically recall on yours , but in general terms with the steering consol off, if the indicator stalk is one half of the lighting control, then it is usually possible to remove on it's own .
However if it wraps around the steering shaft then obviously the steering wheel will need to be marked for centre and removed to gain access, in this case if there is an airbag in the steering wheel then it is strongly advised to disconnect the battery and wait for a 10 minutes or so before working in that area for safety reasons.
Also if it has the airbag then the indicator switch unit will probably contain the "squib" which allows the steering wheel to turn but still transmit power to the air bag unit, if that is the case then it must be centralised before use.

No airbag on this car. I have removed steering wheel before so I will take it off and see if I can figure it out. Thank you for your advice.

All I had to do was rotate the ring so the pin was in the down position and viola’ it now works. Thank you very much bugsymike!
