would the oil only get filtered when up to temp that way? (guessing its a bad thing?)

Could put my air filter back where it was last summer (where emma has hers too)

Not sure about shaving off the sandwich plate dont want to break anything

So what we're saying is i could possibly get away with a extra length of hose somewhere and a remote filter? :)

I'm assuming we've got a remote filter take-off plate attached to the filter head on the engine, then a sandwich plate fitted to the remote filter head?

from rallys pics it looks more like a remote filter plate

on the filter
and a take off plate on the engine.

Its a sandwich plate on the engine with a blanking plate on the end, instead of the filter. The sandwich plate is held on with the standard bolt, and the blanking end screws onto that. The remote filter housing is situated on top of the oil cooler.

I bought a uno oil cooler and used a vauxhal corsa GSI radiator.

U only need to cut extra thread-end (M21) on the pin and cut a few cm of it.

And I used a clio oil filter I thought. A small one about 5cm thick.

OK going to open this up for Alex's benefit, and anyone else with a turbo having difficulty in fitting a cooler on a turbo.

Emma's car is like yours, you can't fit an oil sandwich plate the exhaust is different from mine, bit shorter tighter to the engine so no space for it to go in, mine has plenty, but there you go another difference on the set ups.

So, as i suggested on here many months ago, I believed then that you could use the two M18 fittings on the oil filter take off as an oil cooler in and out, and then take a different feed for the turbo, only to be told this would not work.

Well I would like to say that it does work as Emma's Dad has just proven it by fitting a cooler here and then tapping the banjo bolt that holds in pressure switch for a new oil feed pipe to turbo. He had absolutely no concerns on fitting it on here as he had stripped and rebuilt the engine and knew it inside out, literally.

So before cooler, oil temp has reached as high as 145degrees, and thats on low boost setting, after cooler fitted here, no higher than 100degrees, so i say result!

So Alex if you are are having problems, have a look at Emma's set up, or she may have taken pics of it and then you know how to do it.

It should work out cheaper as you have no need to purchace sandwich plate which is about £35, so dependent on fittings used on hoses, then yeah should work out well priced.

But you will need to use a 45degree from the oil filter end to 90degree bends at cooler end and measure the distance tho i could provide rough measurements of this if needed.

sounds like a idea and a half that aaron :D thanks for the help :D have found a fabrication place in banbury who even helped prodrive out on one of their WRC cars at one point, guess can have a word with them and see what they reckon they could do  :D

Cool, Emma's longer oil feedpipe to fit on new take off was made by Earls at Silverstone was £18 IIRC, as were all the fittings for her cooler.
