yay for snowflakes :( :(

Mine looks nothing like that, yours comes down then turns whereas mine comes down and across to (modded) std downpipe at the same time:

also yours and petes both clears the oil filter on the exhaust side of things by the looks of it, but mine doesnt so my turbo must be a tiny bit further back

Why don't you use the standard oil feeds on the oil pump ? The flow will be in parallel (instead of the in-line of the sandwich plate), but i believe it will be more than enough for an everyday modified turbo car.

No, don't - really.

If you run the oil cooler in parallel with the main engine oil feed then back to the sump, you'll drop the oil pressure significantly. These buggers only run 8-10 psi on idle anyway.

If you run the oil cooler in parallel with the filter and back into the main engine feed, you'll pass unfiltered oil into the system.

Alex - looks like your only choices are modify the zorst or fit a remote filter / cooler take-off.

right so you fit a take off plate to the engine filter plate. now you have an inlet and outlet hose to the pemote filter plate, yes?
where do you take the oil cooler feed/return from?

Often/usually the oil outlet on the take off plate is marked. The oil flow should be IIRC, take off to remote filter oil cooler to the take off plate return. The cooler should come after the filter so that if the engine goes Kaboom the filter should keep the debris out of the cooler.

For one person's experience, (the pictures open up as pdfs, so lots of detail there), see this .

I was planning on getting a decat section made up, maybe i should get them to flange a decat/cat section as planned, but also get them to make up a new pipe from turbo to my cat/decat part :chin: will wait till after my insurance renewal though

ah right i get you so fit a take off plate, rally design list 2
Sideport take off, will require 2.5" clearance. Can be turned to face any direction. Tapped 1/2" BSP female ports @ 19.32
or Requires minimum of 4.5" clearance including hose, fittings and adaptors. Tapped 1/2" BSP female ports @ 9.90 though for safety i suppose the 19.32 one is safest on the clearence side
then hosing up to a remote filter plate
such as
TAKE_OFF_PLATES_4.jpg

obviously need to work out size & design @10.00
now after that you run hose to the cooler and then back to the filter plate.
all good .
now i assume the oil stat would be fitted after the filter but before the cooler?
so the stats have 2 flow throughs?one open and a straight return to the take off plate which closes when the oil is up to temp thus running the oil through the cooler before return?

has just about fully been taken out anyway, because of the lowering which arc can relate to :D :p

with the adaptor thingy you'd need to find one with both outlets to one side due to the confined space, and does it have space under there for two sandwich plates? (well 1 sandwich and 1 remote filter plate) and the plumbing for both also

the whole point of it being a remote filter is you can fit it remotly
seriously though you have plenty of room for your sandwich plate and the largest take of is 4" with one at 2.5" high so shouldnt be a problem.
dont know where i would put the filter but im hoping to pull the airfilter out of the engine bay so should free up space

Long shot here and tell me where to go if my idea is bull but could any metal be shaved off the sandwhich plate?

Seems plenty meat on it.

I have the feed from the sandwitch plate going to the filter, then from the filter to the cooler, then from the cooler back to the plate.

Cheers

would the oil only get filtered when up to temp that way? (guessing its a bad thing?)

Could put my air filter back where it was last summer (where emma has hers too)

Not sure about shaving off the sandwich plate dont want to break anything

So what we're saying is i could possibly get away with a extra length of hose somewhere and a remote filter? :)

Yep

so the stats have 2 flow throughs?

The idea is that until the oil is up to temperature only about 10% goes to the cooler (mainly to prevent it filling up with air, which would have pretty disastrous consequences) when the thermostat opens, all the oil goes through the cooler.

There's a lot of stuff on the net about this: try a google for

oil cooler thermostat

Failing that, go to a club meeting, get into the paddock, talk to people (when they're not busy) take pics.

hmmm im planning on doing this soon so i'll need to look into what way im going but the remote filter sounds an easier route and in the long term for servicing etc.
need to have a look at positioning for the remote filter.

hadnt realised the stat allowed some oil through from cold but makes sense

right turbo /oil cooler owners(thread steal in progress) im looking for measurements or even pics to give me an idea of wheher i can fit a sandwich plate on my engine or whetheri have ot fit a take off plate and remote filter?
i guess a from the top pic gives a better idea of distance from the flange and pipe?
