Id get a proper cold air feed to that filter!

Is it a BMC or a copy off ebay?

no mate it isnt a BMC its a copy but not from ebay! ;) (its proper carbonfibre)
and yes like i say i have a cold air feed just havent poped it on yet,,,going to wait till the intercooler is on so i can root the pipeing best i can the see what space ive got left :) because im struggling for it at the moment haha
and still thinking about the bonnet vent

bonnet vent would probs be best to get air to a filter positioned like that. check out Alex22's cinq

ye i watched his video before i even got the turbo haha, thats where the idea has come from,,,,just dont want rain getting forced down it though.
looks good but i want an eveil eye bonnet! so if i have the bonnet done ill fit a vent at the same time. :)

That is indeed one of my many cars. It was feeling a bit sorry for itself when I got it and it has been stripped so is feeling even worse at the moment but it will be back soon.

Rich.

credit were its due mate thats a great looking car, where did you get the bonnet done if you dont mind me asking??
(changing the subject of the thread totaly sorry) :)

I'd go the opposite way. Air intake low down somewhere around the wheelarch, but with ducted air out, a la Elise. Note that the only cars which have that sticky out style in vent also have intercoolers in bloody silly places for packaging reasons. (Subaru, Mini Cooper S, Nissan Pulsar, etc).

Stuffing more air in willy nilly might have dramatic cosmetic effects, but the air will just stall against the firewall.

yes thats a good point there cheers (y)
ive had a thought over night however,,,,in going to stick a reducer on the end of the new filter to take it back down to the size of the pipe from the turbo to the filter which is around 2 inch ish (this will stop my space problems) seen as the pipe the kit comes with simply is to big to fit under the bonnet haha, and then have a stainless pipe made to go from the reducer staright back round and to the front of the car :)
i dont need to worry about the ram affect seen as the turbo will be sucking the air from wherever i piont the feed pipe. and this will look great under the bonnet what do you think to that idea??

If i were you i'd think what you want to achieve in the end.

If your wanting to fit an intercooler then there will be more heat transfered into the under bonnet area and the available space you have at the front to duct cool air will be even more limited and under bonnet temps will be higher still

Space is at a premium under the bonnet so if you can move other things into unused space to create room then that is a good thing. as Aaron has said on many occasions move the filter out of the engine bay completly this way you can suck in cold air without ducting which takes up even more space in the engine bay, and have a straight route into the turbo meaning fast moving cold air into the turbo, and cooler air out meaning the intercooler is even more you'll see what he means if you look at mine

well to be honest moving the filter out of the engine bay was my origonal idea as sed by a few people but the filter i have just purchased was bought for a good price and it looks very good under the bonnet, however its quiet large and i really dont no where i could put it other than where it is, i thought by fitting the carbon firbe kit in there this would help keep the inlet temp down by helpling stop heat soak as long as there is a good cool air feed :) (which im in the process of making)
ill see how it goes and if im not happy with the results or the space is to much of an issue then ill switch back to a cone filter and root it away from the engine bay (y)
illl take a look at yours and that'll give me an idea of whats what, i can decide from there cheers mate :)
