General turbo engine bay tidy up!!

hi there just been having a little tidy up under the bonnet, seen as it was a bit,,,well plain before, im going to try and get a hose kit made up and generally find whatever i can to make the engine a little more satisfying to the eye!
ive still got the bad off-boost hesitation but after taking more notice it seems its deffinatly when the engine is warm rather than cold! it doesnt even like idleing when warm so im wondering if it is a lambda fault as previuosly mesioned by someone! when asked to rev from adle at full throttle the engine takes around 2-3 seconds to stop misfiring actually rev!
anyway here is a few pics to look a of the engine, i can post the pics of the engine when more has been fettled abit to compare to these

Getting there

Don't forget when your fastening to fixed things like the strut brace that the engine does move back quite a way under load

Much tidier, though i hope the pipe that goes from rocker cover is meant for oil as the oil vapour will very quickly stain it badly, and will eventually cause it to break down.

And get that air filter moved out from inside the hot engine bay

thanks for the replys ye i thought of the engine moving so i purposely put more hose in than needed for extra travel, also the piping was listed for coolant,ducting and breather hose so i hope that i will be ok
just going to keep adding to it when things come along but ill keep posting as things progress (got some nice blue H/T's coming soon too) and some very nice anodised blue bolts for the ECU and cam cover

i havnt done that much as yet, theres the SFS breather hose, a carbon fibre bottle cap, blue vac and dump valve pipes, heat lagged manifold, heat lagged coolant pipe and generally cleaned abit
here is a picture of the N/A cinq engine to look at too
hopefully soon to have a poished chrome cam cover

Are you planning on leaving the alarm siren there? i have mine fitted under the ECU bracket so you can't actually see it, makes it look neater and is harder to get at

erm no think i will move it,,,its not the best looking thing after all
on my N/A cinq its behind the N/S/F headlight and tucks away nice and neatly there.but i do like the idea of it being under the ECU cheers

I dont think there is a cover on the market but it would be easy to make one, i sprayed mine black and polished the top:

ECU cover = dremel and Autosol great way of spending a few hours when unwanted relatives come to visit you'd be suprised how much of my car is now nice and shiny after a two week visit from the mother-in-law

Never seen a metal headertank yet, i'd have two if you find them, but a brand new clear one looks good

lol, shhhhhhh

wear glasses when using the dremel tho. i didnt and got the autosol in me eyes stings for quite a while.

took me a a couple of nights and a few hours at a time, i thought i could flat the top off and work down the grades of emery then polish on paper, i gave up in the end and the dremel came out

ok cheers everyone, i do like the idea of spraying the cover though seen as its been mensioned, thats got me thinking of either a nice shiny black or blue?? hhhmm

im also thinking of having the exhaust manifold powdercoated white, but although it helps lower under bonnet temps would it be as good as the heat lagging im using?? im confident it would look great after a good rub down and a powder coat

I always think Shiney is best, I have seen ECU's in black and red they just look a bit naff IMHO

if i were you i'd just polish it, and if you didn't like it the end result at least, you have a nice prepared surface to spray a different colour

powdercoating manifold on it's own won't help with underbonnet temps but coated insulation will (not cheap)

I would wrap and coat the manifold well, and then paint in whatever colour you want

cheers, and yes i agree the shiny bits are best haha, well polished it is then and the manifold is wrapped (did it while on car) what a pain!! need to take it off to do it propely now
