Hi all, after a 19 year absense from owning a Panda I've taken the first step to renewed ownership.

I've purchased a 94 Fizz in white with broken engine for £60. My problem is that its sitting in Maylandsea, Essex and I need to get it to Basildon. Does any one know of a cheep recovery company or other means of getting it home, it needs to be moved by next Monday or it'll be sent to a scrap yard!

cheers

how cheap would you call cheap.

For us to get a coupe to our friendly coupe specialist on a low loader which is about 60 miles away cost about £60.

Join the AA or RAC and get it transported for free after you've "broken down" by the roadside. That'll only work if it's taxed though. :)

Have you got a tow bar?

I rent a trailer and I'm sure that this idea is not unique to Ireland...

Hi Sammi, its about 15 miles and the cheapest quote so far is £160. I was hoping to get it done for around the £50 mark.

It's not taxed Steve, but a nice man from the RAC did give me a number to try when I spoke to him at my local Tescos today.

Jim, I too used to hire a trailer (harder to get hold of than you would think around here) but currently non of my family or friends have a tow bar equiped car.

I was told this a couple of days ago. When they arrive they rarely check tax, and if they do it's only a visual check. If you have another car then 'borrow' the tax disc, place it in the windscreen of the aforementioned Panda and Bob is you uncle.

speak no..... tax fraud,,, better to have an out of date one than one for another car, as he may report you (as I hear a (select) few southernors are more jobsworth than friendly, and more expensive).

askyourneighbour might be worth a try. but you could 'hire' a solid tow bar job and use that?

At 3am, go and use a towrope to tow it back the 15 miles?

Too many bored polis at 3 a.m.
Do it during the school run ... you might even get an escort, to keep the traffic flowing !
