Hi folks,

I have a Fiat engine (twin-cam type) fitted in a kit car. I don't know what car the engine came out of, but the engine has a problem and I'd like to fit new valve guides. I've drifted an inlet one of them out, it's phosphor bronze (and so could be aftermarket?) and it has "Fiat Lancia B749" professionally etched (ie it's not done by hand) onto the outside of it.

I've tried to marry this up to a part number both at my local Fiat dealers and on the web with no success, my local dealer tells me that Fiat have no interest in their older cars and that it looks like a makers mark rather than a Fiat one.

I'd really appreciate some help here.

Many thanks.

John

We'll need to know what engine it is.
On the side of the block will be some machined surfaces with numbers stamped in. Note down everything, and post it here, including the format, e.g. one number above another or alongside, etc. Photos of the numbers will help a lot. Then someone on here will tell you what the engine is, which will hopefully lead us to a parts supplier.

Hi John, and welcome,

the twin cams are Lampredi designed.. and there are many manuals on their inner workings,
chances are ...,if you get in touch with the people who do regular work on them
( GuyCroft..??), you will be rewarded with all the answers,

( the SEARCH on here is pretty good..!!),

page 2..

also have a google for "Middle Barton Garage",

I'd never heard of them until recently , and discovered they are @ 15 miles from me, and do classic Fiat stuff,
good luck,

Charlie
