I have a 1.6 sx woth 205/45/17s (toyo T1-S).

It states max pressure is 50psi

Had a search and most of the threads refered to tyres with a 40psi max rating.

What pressure should my tyres be at?

Thank you in advance.

Majority of tyres run at about 28-30psi for normal road use.

Having them too inflated will cause a flat spot in the centre tread... having them under inflated will wear them on the outside tread quicker..

The 50psi is the maximum that tyre will hold before it pops...

Mark mustn't have 17's cause with that low a pressure, you'll wear the shoulders out in no time and probably buck the rim if you hit a pothole hard enough. 32psi on 205/45/17 is what i'd recommend for your 1.6
If it was a JTD or perhapos a JTD, i'd suggest 34 on the fronts, and 32 on the rears

inflated them to 34psi earlier will let a bit out tomorrow.

It all relies on what tyre you've got on. The weight rating will effect the tyre pressure. Being at 50PSi it'll be the same rating as my tyres.

From past experience i always had 34-35PSi in my tyres and they always wore out more on the outside. I now have 38Psi and they are wearing evenly. I do however have a JTD so its a quite heavy engine.

i'm running 34 front 32 rear on the hgt, any higher and it gets a bit skitish.

With the Toyo 205/40-17 T1-R's on the HGT I've settled with 42 in the front & 32 in the rear. Fronts have worn through perfectly even at that pressure, first set was at 38 & the outer edges wore through in no time at all basically indicating not enough pressure.
Oh and the max PSI, that refers to the max pressure when cold. There are a lot of people in the Scooby forums that set their pressure at 44psi with these tyres.

Yeah i've also got the Toyo T1-R's, hence the higher pressure.

I'll keep an eye on how they are wearing and adjust accordingly, for now ill stick at 34psi all round.
