Hi. Have had a 2004 fiat ducato auto trail for a while but not used it. Now I have tried to fill the fresh water tank but it only takes a small amount of water then overflows out of filler cap. Is there an internal pump or something that I should be turning on.

Further to this, if I am unable to fill tank from outside is there an internal access to the tank as in my previous van which was a Hymer, but this ran on a submersible pump and microswitches so needed access to get to the pump.

Hi

Check that you don't have a charcoal filter cartridge, possibly under a big screw cap in the filler area. These can block with slime if left unused, and this can cause very slow filling. You should be able to just leave out the cartridge. They are expensive and not really needed for UK water supplies.

Hi Archie,
Just pop your head under your van and check water tank has not been sucked in, due to a blocked vent,

Eric

Sounds to me that the tank is full despite the hab' display saying otherwise.
Have you opened the fresh water drain tap to confirm the tank is indeed empty or run the pump with the Hab' taps open?

There is an internal pump option on the control panel but this won't stop water being added manually by a hose or watering can. (Doubtful if your Moho did have the internal pump option fitted anyway, mine don't)

Was it filling OK last time you used the MoHo?
Could the filler aperture pipe to the tank be blocked?

Hi
I have a 2006 Fiat Ducato, same model (244) as yours, with a Jayco Conquest motorhome, on the chassis.
If you crawl underneath, you will find that the filler tube goes under the chassis, then to the topish part of the water tank. This "U" bend stops the water going in fast, and it blows back on you. Not knowing how the Autotrail is set out, it is best if you ask in an Autotrail forum, for the solution to the problem.
On my Jayco Conquest, I fitted a second tank, connected to the original, and fill the second tank with a tap water hose connected, to a garden type hose snap on fitting. This pressurises the second tank, and when the water comes from the original tank filler cap, then both tanks are full.
