General trivial question about an ashtray!

Hi Guys,

I picked up a 53 plate 1.9 JTD Dynamic Multiwagon yesterday - we are now a two Stilo family! (The other is a 52 plate 5 Door Hatch)

On my way home from the garage the ashtray popped open (one fitted below the heater control) and I can't get it to close properly!

Does anyone know if/how the catch can be adjusted?

Just had a look at mine, doesn't look like there is any adjustment. I think its a replacement job. If you don't need it, why not just glue gun it shut? It looks just like a bit of trim anyways!

I've had a look at the ashtray properly - there's a spring loaded grab clip at the back of the ashtray which grabs a post on the housing - the clip isn't closing properly - I tried an elastic band, which worked 'till it fell off!

I think a new ashtray is in order!

unless anyone can think of how to fix the clip.

I assume the clip is in the 'out' possition to recieve the open tray?

If tray slipped out and the clip is still in the 'closed' possition, then it won't shut

mine does this all the time as well, what i done was remove the actual ash try inside and it seemed to stop it popping open all the time.
