Hi all, i have just traded my 5 door stilo abarth in for a multiwagon jtd, at a great loss, as i am sure you are aware that as of next March road tax on Stilo abarth is £415 per year!!, i would rather owe money to the bank than pay that arsehole that much. Fiat dealer said he would not retail the abarth as within a year they could become worthless due to these tax rules so would pass it on through trade. Abarth was a fine car had all the toys, leather etc have been forced into this very annoying!!!.On my fifth stilo now!!, love jtd's though. Check tax rules out for next year you may get caught out

Cant help saying you made the correct choice..the abarth isn't worth hanging onto but no doubt some will because they think they are elitist and its the only stilo to be seen is  nows the time to cut and run hang onto it and there is a very slim chance they will sell in the near future..good luck with the MW..you can now go into the house removal business;)

I for one will be tactically voting - whoever looks like they were closest to beating our Labour MP last year I'll vote for. Want them out - a clear message to any government that we're not going to take being screwed for cash any more.

There are soon going to be some absolute bargains amongst cars registered after 2001. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem paying £200 more tax per annum if it meant I was picking up a car that was - as far as the trade was concerned - "worthless". Think I might start looking at Alfa 166 3.0 V6s again... :D

Depends how much you were going to save - you might find that the saving on the car would pay for the extra tax for several years to come, leading to a saving in the end (y) On the plus side for me, Bismarck's price will be holding steady as the tax level is holding steady as well ;)

Bizarrely, my dirty old antique will be liable for less tax in a couple of years time than the cleaner Stilo it replaced - assuming the old girl lasts that long, of course...

Except for a few guilt edged models, all cars are going to cost you one way or another. I guess it's down to us individually to decide who we least mind lining the pockets of, be it the banks, the manufacturers or the government.

I was also slightly panicing when I saw the increase, thought 'bout getting a VW Eos, but when you plan for it, it's going to cost £34.50 a month or £8 a week which is cheaper that £350 a month + for the finance on a new car.
