Hey Fiat people!

Im Chris, and i passed my test not long ago! :slayer:

I have bought a Punto 75sx and I absolutely love it! I especially like the visibility out of the car with the high up steering and the mirrors giving really good visibility all round the car which has given me a little needed confidence as a new driver... I believe on my first drive in it I exclaimed "Its like driving a conservatory!"

This site is also superb... Its a fantastic searchable knowledge base of everything that can go wrong and how to deal with it. I was able to fix a minor leaky cam cover gasket myself using this forum to diagnose, source parts and effect a gasket replacement, which is now dry as a bone, and in the process loose my engine mechanic virginity! :D

You all seem like great people who dont mind lending your thoughts to help others... I think in this respect Im glad I ended up with a Fiat if for nothing else!

Chris :)

Howdy! (y)
Your right this place is great. Definatly one of the best reasons for owning a Fiat.

Punto is a great first car cheap, kinda reliable and if you want to get into diy mechanics an excellent place too start.:)

Yeah the cam cover gasket was fun and hassle free! I gunked the engine today so all the clagged up oil is gone from the engine. I have given it a good long drive today and I think i've nailed the oil leak, fingers crossed! Once im certain I have made the engine oil tight ill give it a good service as per the haynes manual - new filters, fluids, sparkplugs, decent oil etc... I found a digital camera on macro mode really good for taking pictures of the back of the engine and sump for the purposes of checking where the leak might be coming from... saved me having to contort myself inextricably...

Nippy?!, as its my first car I dont really have anything to compare it to, but it does on occasion seem rather willing to press me into the seat if I hit the right gear with the right revs! Is it meant to do that?! ;)
