Hi there,

I have a sleeper Uno Turbo which when I purchased it as a non runner came with the older bottom shift Strada style gearbox.

As you may know, the later MK1 1301(SOC) Uno turbos were fitted with a top shift “Tipo” style gearbox.

Can you tell me from which sized engine Tipo the Uno Turbo’s gearbox originated? The reason I ask is that I’m on the lookout for a set of gear selector linkage rods – the ones with ball joints on each end pictured here:-

It’s the short one in particular I’m after as it was missing when I purchased the gearbox.

Thanks and regards,
Louie.

I'd suspect the UT gearbox was derived from a 1.4 or 1.6 Tipo Louie. These used the same basic engine that was fitted to the UT (ohc Lampredi engine) so the box would fit either car. The UT gearbox would have been beefed up though to cope with the extra torque.

There's also the 1.8 GT and 2.0 Sedi Tipo engines but I've no idea what gearboxes they used

Dont think so, I believe its the same as the tipo 16v, you should have 3 rooda, 2 that pivot and one which opposes the pivot on the steering rack if its the same as the tipo.

If its the same it can be converted to calbe shift using 146 gamma parts, this enable use of coupe or similar 2 cable shift linkage, all that is need its the different external top plate and intenal gear shift rod.
