Technical top suspension mount covers?

My car's in the garage just now to have the O/S top suspension mount changed. It occurs to me that were they covered up it might reduce the inevitable rusting of exposed metal.
However, there is no cover available in listed Punto parts. Do other Fiat models have them? Would they fit?

I sprayed them with direct to rust paint will post a pic later

They did come with a peg cover, but thats it

No nice plastic covers, my advice, a plastic bag cable tied on is cheapest way but not the prettyest

IIRC, someone in the 500 section fashioned some covers from the ends of a pair of large fizzy drinks bottles.... Don't know if this would work on the Punto... (and it will be interesting to see if my "peg covers" survive a change of springs and shocks...).

They look better for been painted - but its pretty badly done....

Nah, they need an etching primer. It's the oxide layer on the aluminium which prevents the adhesion.

what Fingers said oxide primers are to prevent rust, acid etching primers on alloy (or infact any metal)

That would seem more likely. Still, etch primer would be best.
