General top speed

It is true no Sedici seems the same i have had 4 none behave like the last from (and this was a suprise) good low power and steady up top to a slow but still have blistering acceleration from 80-110 on a track ofc.

Sorry Rich i know you do know your stuff but i have driven many of both types and find the mk1 a league ahead of the mk2 in every aspect except low down behaviour, and yes as Sumplug pointed out the difference between the mk1 and mk2 is quite big especially the 0-62 times which if i recall is 7.9 for a mk1 and 12.x for a mk2. The gears etc on a mk2 made to do different things to the mk1.

Got a 134 from my current Tipo :)

It is a shame we are dieing as a car breed :( it is to me so stupid that the Tipo is not recognised as the wonderfully versatile car that it is.

I can not think of a car that existed like it anymore that deliver the same fun and amusement and require skill to get the best out of the engine. While the LE Coop can go faster etc i will and do always have a place in my heart for the Tipo. The engine is so unbelievably good providing fun good sound and a big smile on my face. It will stay with me to the end (oh i am getting so emotional! :D)

12.x seconds for a mark 2 sedicivalvole? surely thats wrong the 0 -60 on mine when new was 12.2 and it's only a 1.4 :p

mk1 early[155bhp] approx 7.2 secs.
mk1 standard[145bhp] 7.9 secs
mk2 [142bhp] 8.3 secs

Are you guys positive? not been able to get myself near a terminal (would not help if i could as they never work Fiat :D) the old www.tipo16v.co.uk had all the info there. It was John who had the times to begin with. 95% positive there is an unbelievable gap between a 3dr and 5dr so silly i did not believe it. Shame it is so difficult to find accurate readings .Where did you get yours Andy?

Gathered info from personal experiance[ ive driven over 10 sedici's, and owned 4], and Websites from around the world. Also from other owners since 1991.
I have yet to drive a mk2 that i feel has a very strong engine. Some owners have changed mk2 cams to mk1 cams or just the inlet side. Some have even gone as far as swapping a mk2 ECU for a mk1 one.
One thing that messes up the low speed performance is the EGR valve. Best thing is to sling it. They run much nicer without one.

what year is your tipo? cos earlier carbs had less power than later ones. about the only thing you could do to improve performance is just to make sure everythings clean sorted out right etc. i took my car to a garage and they cleaned the carb out properly and it made a huge difference! another thing to do is to take out excess weight. it helps greatly! i spose it might be possible to fit the turbo from an uno onto a 1.4 but that would probably be a lot of work.

naaa its a good ol' J reg with a weber twin barrel carb. hadn't even had the carb cleaned when i got 100 out of it that time but had replaced all small parts eg. air filter and spark plugs. and if that is sarcasm which i assume at least my tipo can out accelerate a 1.6 ford focus:)
ive got a 1.4 i.e. m reg and iv had 100 out of it on single track roads and it can out accelerate a honda 350 quad on a forestry track, but im having trouble with tuning and styling parts............theres none. does anyone know where to buy them?

both these are top notch for tuning.

Today I saw 185km/h driving my 1.4 i.e Fiat Tipo. As you can easily undestand the road had an substantial declination, changing all the time, and therefore at some parts of the road I couldn' t accelerate over 140 km/h as I didn' t have enough power. I drove with as it is said "the pedal at the floor..."
