General top speed of sx!

whats the fastest anyones ever got out of an seicento sx?!
coz there sposed to go top speed 87!? but i ("legally" oviously!) got about 100-102mph down motor way! both ways so no back wind!? was just wondering if other people have done the same!? or if my k&n air filter actually does make me faster!?

Your air filter will give you some bonus as my custom filter has and I have also managed to get it over the 100 marker with just that mod. Seems odd however yours stopped on the same mark before hand.

Have you upgraded to alloys or are you still running the steelies?

The downside to the K&N kit is it sucks in hot air (if it's the one that sits on top of your throttle body). It will be sluggish until the bay can get some cold air flowing around then when you stop you will be snailing again.

nah the whole car is completely stock apart from a k&n air filter n a chavy back box that come with it when i brought it! and i got it upto 100 with 4 people in the car! the k&n air filter is moed slightly by previous owner by extending it a bit further away form the engine so may be better placed to suck in cold air!

see i was thinking that put i was following my mate in his corsa 1.2 and he said he was doing about 110 and i he wasnt goiing much faster than me!

Now I would understand if you had alloys as it puts the readings out about 7%. On mine i'm doing 105mph but it's probably only doing 97-99mph.

Ahh well. Seriously, I would never dream of carrying that many people in a Sei at those speeds. The poor engine must of had a heart attack up hills (and in general).

well it was mainly to see if i could keep up with my mate! but was so suprised as fastest ive got it up to beofre was 90 n then getign up to 100 was like :O how!? just wanted to see if this was normal in sxs because i my car is abnormally quick than the stats say it is! and ive never really thought k&n air filters worked! thought they could make it slower! but thankyou for you help!

Completely std 899cc Cinq, over 100MPH (obviously on the Autobahn...), speed from GPS satnav (899 speedo only goes to 90 and is accurate to that on mine).

A quick question on your Sei, would it be the MPI or SPI model?

And could you throw a pic up of the underneath round the gearbox and CV's if it's an MPI. Trying to find out if fiat installed the sporting gearbox's and drive shafts on the SX's like mine and some other guy has.

this could also be the reason why its not completly a sx its a citymatic sx!? so its a 1998 s reg citymatic that had the gear box put in! put wa sonly a seicento gearbox from scrapyard as told when brought! bt dnt see that being any different! and mine is the 0.9 sx not the 1.1 sx

i have had mine over 100 mph, thats going by the standard speedo, which also tells me its ok to do 35 through a speed camera
i think it was showing just over 100 so i would guess at was doing around 90 ish. plus the car had passengers:slayer:

i thought the top speed for a 1.2 corsa was about 90 anyway?
could be 2 flattering speedos

My speedo is very flattering; no less than 5mph out at 30 and 7mph out at 60 (according to the sat nav, and the two speed readoff signs I've been through recently)

100mph, on a motorway, 4 up in a sei, you have got to be 100% stupid. im probably going to get slorterd for saying this but not only did you put your self at risk, you put your mates and every one around you.
"so you could keep up" aka racing the car in front of you on a public highway, yep, real clever
your the type of person that deserves to be banned untill you mature a little and understand that the road is not your private race track.
I could almost ignore this post if you were in anything other than a sx sei as at 100mph its going to be incredibly unstabel. if you had to break hard, swurve ect. I garentee you would have been on your roof before you could say what the f was that

calm down!! it was an empty motorway and i only had it at 100 for no more than a minute just wondered how fast it could really do! and theres nothing wrong with a sx :O

having had a SX, hand on heart, I can honestly say its one of the most poor handling cars i have ever driven

Infact, I would go as far as to say it was borderline dangerous for anything more than going to the shops in

It would give you the impression it was going to go around a corner, and then continue on in a strait line with the distinct sound of some one screaming in terror, then you realise its actually yourself screaming in terror, and you have just sailed on though a hedge

i got balls though! :L haha! its ok if it started shaking or being realy noisey i would of slowed down bet it felt no differnt than doign 30 was supirsed! wouldnt ever try on motorway that wasnt empty!
