General top speed of sx!

u must have driven a really **** sx! i find mine great fun! :) handles gud! nippy! n alwasy gives me adrenaline!!

i got balls though! :L haha!

Not doing much to show your maturity there

its ok if it started shaking or being realy noisey i would of slowed down bet it felt no differnt than doign 30 was supirsed! wouldnt ever try on motorway that wasnt empty!

My Seicento SX is not even what I would call stable at 70, any higher that that is not desirable at all

However I do disagree with the comment that SXs are understeery, it's a lot to do with the tyres, my Cinq I used to have had Debica tyres on and would understeer on a dry roundabout at 15mph. Horrible to drive anywhere but the shops, I agree.

But my Sei SX was the same, with the Goodyear tyres on when new, but only in the damp or wet. Some carefully chosen tyres later and the understeer is greatly, and I mean greatly, reduced. If I was interested in driving everywhere at the limit I probably would lower it to combat the amount it rolls in the corners.

not to come across as snobby (which im not or i wouldnt be looking for a cinq sporting) but after driving supras, celica gt4's mr2's even the fiat coupe 20vt and the bravo155 its a horid little car to drive. well the one my partner has was.
I cant even begin to start explaining the differance between the cinq sx and the sci sporting she then had!

yeah but there is a hell of alot of differnce ebtween a cinq and a seicento! my sisters old cing sx was ****! over 60 and the floor would shake n u just felt it was guna fall apart right underneath you!! but my seicento takes it like its nothing! if anything it likes it!

and yeah my maturity wasnt helped then at that statement! but noone needs to grow up! :)

If you want to cruise around at those speeds I highly recomend lowering her and upgrade the front discs and pads. Maybe look into a disc conversion just to be extra safe.

Mine feels loads more stable with alloys but the body roll is still something to be considered. Why do you think the sporting is 20mm lower and runs slightly stiffer springs?

Thanks

yeah i have got big plans for her just trying to find the money at the moment! i wna lower her for teh body roll and put sum alloys on n upgrade the brake because i find them the worst part of my car!! and after a lil tear about they are very cooked! :)

I hope you realise that if anything, and I do mean anything happens while you're doing 100 in a cinq or sei (or a lot of other smaller cars for that matter) there is pretty much nothing you can do to stop the inevitable barrier / roll over / sliding on the roof for quarter of a mile. You will be very dead.

Do you even check tyre pressures or anything before doing these types of speeds? What quality are your tyres anyway? 100mph for one minute will increase your tyre temps massively even if you're just a few psi low. A blow out at 100mph in a cinq doesn't even bear thinking about.

This might be worth taking a look at:

http://www.euroncap.com/tests/fiat_seicento_2000/73.aspx

You say the brakes cook easily, have you tried braking heavily from high speeds? For example you come upon a traffic queue at 100mph, will you be able to stop in time?

I'm not trying to scare or patronise you, just trying to make you think of what you are actually doing. I tend to think of high speeds and smaller / older / weaker cars as having the coke can effect. You know, it's like stamping on an empty coke can.
