I'm in the market for a Punto Mk2 JTD in either ELX or HLX trim. I've seen the following for sale but it's pretty cheap...

2000 FIAT PUNTO JTD ELX 5dr Diesel Hatchback,
53,500 miles, Grey. Body coloured bumpers, Electric sunroof, Folding rear seats, Front electric windows, Front head restraints, Height adjustable drivers seat. Full years MOT, good condition throughout. £2,300. ono

Is this the going rate or am I likely to find something wrong with it if I go to look at it?

est thing would be to drive a few of these cars first so you know what a good one feel like. Turning up and not knowing what to expect could be hiding some serious problems.

I always try to scrounge a ride or even better a drive off someone with the same car first.

Well if you live around Hampshire and Surrey you're more than welcome to try my JTD :)

It's not a standard one, but it drives pretty much the same, just faster :D
i have just encountered a friend i havent seen in a long time, has a remapped mk2!! only 110hp though, i had a quick go up the road and i want one!! i wish i hadnt drove it now :( makes my car seem slow lol and i've only had it a few weeks!

So imagine how I felt driving Mark's which is sitting at a lovey 132bhp and then getting back into my 1.2 8v

Mark I will be joining you later this year :slayer:

how did i feel then!

from 132bhp wuth a glob of torque back to a 1.1 55bhp engine!

AND not only a drop in engine size, but a drop in inside space too

Thanks for the replies! I think I'd prefer a 3-door as I like the slitted design of the front bumper. I'm also going to try and get one with air-con (just for the whole 3 weeks of hot weather we have in a year!) and as I'm coming from a 2.0 Fiesta I'd definitely be going the remap route!!

Does anyone know over what mileage it's recommended NOT to have a remap done? 70k miles?? Higher, or lower?

Well mine is on 40k and apart from the clutch it's perfect :)

If it's over 40k and still on original clutch I would recommend getting it replaced before or soon after the remap, as the slipping on mine is starting to get worse. So it's getting replaced ASAP
