so that another may live.....

I'm sure we have all been there..one step fwd two steps back...but this is getting stupid!!!!

Sid's head went off to be sorted (skimmed etc)...only for the guy to call a couple of hours later to say the head is cracked..from one of the water ways to the valve seat....NOT repairable!!!

So Tonka becomes a doner...such a shame as i really did not want to break him up...the guy at the head shop said a fuel injec head would work instead of a carb head....MEP has given me some advise on this as i have a injec head but i dont have too much time left before the camp so maybe i will just attack Tonka....

Hoo humm......Kev

You can fit head from Uno 1.1, 1.0, punto 1.1, 1.2, cinq, sei etc. They are cheap and easy to get.

Early Unos with fuel injection (in my case 1993) have hole for fuel pump pin, but you might need to swap camshaft. If head has no hole (punto, cinq) you can drill it, there is a guide somewhere on FF.

As I said via text kev, sorry to hear about the head.

But I thought the other FIRE engine heads would fit, and bridges have loads of puntos and cinquecentos. (y)

But its up to you, if you take the engine from tonka, it would solve not only the head issues, but also the bore issues.

And then if your looking for someone to take tonka without an engine I know someone who maybe interested.

Haha...cheers for that....as you saw i have a head on the scrappy "Fizz" at the garage...could do with your big bar and that slim socket!!...(y)

Just cos your swapping it now dosen't mean you have to strip the whole of Tonka.

Could get Sid all fixed up and have Tonka as a project (y)

Yeah...could use Tonkas head and then put the Fizz head on tonka later...or do the fuel pump mod on the fizz head to go onto Sid now....Oh dear i now find myself with options!!!...Answers on a postcard please!!!!

In WW2 they escaped from prisoner of war camps faster than 7 days.
God created the world in 7 days as well.

1 problem + all the others you have had recently should still only take 3.

I suggest you change Purple Haze to Oh Bugger or Oh F...K

Ok...dont really know where to begin...

15 hours of work on sid today...(With the running around)

Got the head off the Fizz..went to head shop and showed him the mod for the fuel pump.."Why not do it properly and have it alumin welded instead of using fibreglass" that means the correct oil feed to the fuel pump can be also drilled out.
Off i go to the alumin weld shop..."Need to clean that up and completely strip it"...off i go to do that!!!..Return to be told it will be ready tuesday to then go back to the head shop to be worked on..:bang:..then the guy in the alumin weld shop has a look at the cracked head.."I can fix that!!!" he say..."But not for a week from now"...Ahhhhh...:bang::bang::bang:

Back at the garage the guy has turned up to weld a stud on to the block for the water pipe disaster i mentioned...all done...(y)
Sorted my crap core plug fix and got it all correct....

Off with the rad.. into a old bath...no bubbles??..so maybe ok..
Clean all the old gasket off the cyl block and inlet manifold....takes FOREVER!!!!...found so may boddges from previous work..too many to list!!

Spray water pipe black....clean where it goes into the water pump (rust and crap)
The bore that went pop was rusting coz of the water content..so fine wet and dry with oil sorted that.

Then spent nearly 2 hours getting the oil filter off!!!!.....:bang:

WOT A DAY!!!!!!!!...and i'm not finnished yet!!...Wish me luck coz i need it and can't seem to find any!!...

Blimey, what a day!

Was that exactaweld? I had a feeling they could fix the cracked head, but I know they are very very busy so didnt think it was an option in time.
