hey, ive have got the tomtom navigator 7 and the tom tom navigator 7 maps. i remember there were people saying that some of the cheap sat navs could be re programmed with tom tom software and upgraded as such, i was just wondering is this entirely possibly? what does the unit need to have, usb port and some form of windows?

ive loads of v cheap units in work, the likes of magellans sonys lg's etc so just wondering how i could find it if its possible or does anyone know of any guides? cheers

Depends very much on the unit. They need to be running a 'Windows' based mobile operating system CE 4,5 .net etc.

What do you mean you have got the Tomtom navigator 7 and maps? software only?. The software is hardware dependant.

I can help you more once you can tell me what your actually installing it on to.

well take the navman n60i for example, i havent bought a unit yet, thats why i was looking to see how to find out which one to buy

yea i have the software only. the navigator programme and the map database for europe. any help will be greatly appreciated

Get one of them, its a straight install if using Tomtom for PDA.

Again runs windows ce .net 5 so should run tomtom as well. EDIT Tomtom does work 100%.

cheers chris. so is that the basis on whether a unit can take the tom tom programme? windows ce.net?

im guessing the way its done is using a simple programme inside an operating system. not like the garmin/tom tom devices where the program is the entirety of the device?
