Hi guys, I got a 2013 500, I want to get a GPS for it but don't want loose cables all through the car. I have been reading up about the dash mounted one that is available but the reviews are generally not good...

I have been searching around to see if there was a universal holder for a GPS/Phone that would utilize the on dash port hole thing, but cannot find anything..

Can anyone provide any advice? Are there other solutions? Is the unit available really not that good?

The Tom Tom 2 one works just fine and has good reviews. The original Navman one wasn't particularly good.

I have the TomTom 2 B&M and it's garbage. It's an $80 unit that the dealer charges, what $800(?) for and then you have to pay to update the maps. You can get one cheaper on eBay, but you have to be a bit lucky as they don't come up on AU ebay very often, and if you get a UK one, you'll need to buy maps.

You can buy a far superior Garmin for $100 on sale and you get life time maps and traffic.

Everything about the TomTom is dumb. Poor interface, too small screen, not enough info/ customisable options, long boot time, every time the car is started you have to tap the view map button etc.

Buy a Garmin and a 68R mount, and go to a quality car audio installer and have them cut/ splice and plastic weld the two mounts together. All your GPS needs to work is two wires, plus the live traffic aerial where fitted. There are other options too, like having the Garmin mount hardwired and run through the 68R port with just a rubber boot over the top, or just getting a dash mat to cover 90% of the wires.

The only reason I bought the TomTom was to be able to easily navigate MP3's on the USB stick, but I've since ditched the dollar store head unit too. I often say it, but for NAV/ICE go aftermarket, it's cheaper and much better.
