Hi guys,
I have questions regarding the TomTom B+M fitted in the port on the dash, and the interaction with the fitted Fiat sound system.

My questions are:
Can the TomTom (correctly paired with the car) speak through the sound system speakers rather than the TomTom integral speaker?

Also, when I'm listening to a CD and the TomTom is at 100% volume, I cannot hear clearly the TomTom verbal instructions over the music.

It seems that the TomTom should mute the sound system when it speaks. Mine doesn't do this. Should it? If so, how do I set it up to do it?

TomTom can't help - I've been in touch with TomTom Support but they seem little more than useless. I joined the TomTom Forum and have received some encouraging info but no advice, and it leaves me a bit mystified.

Thanks,
Mick.

Hi Mick;

I've been using the factory B&M TomTom for about eighteen months now and to the best of my knowledge the answers are;

First question; Apparently not. I too was surprised and a little disappointed about this.

Second; Neither can I - I just keep the music turned down. I've noticed a considerable improvement since I downloaded Brian Blessed's voice file however!

Third; Neither does mine; I've never discovered a way and there's no mention of it being possible in the manuals.

TomTom support is indeed next to useless. The operators are foreign and it takes two or three emails before they even understand the question (posed in simple words of one syllable), let alone supply an answer. I don't believe they have any knowledge at all about B&M.

Thanks for that.
Yes, disappointing.
I've done a reset, I've held down the power button past the drums and rebooted, I've tried everything in the hope that it could come up with goods.

It seems that Renault cars have the radio mute with their system, I wonder if it can be done with Fiat?

Also, a chap on the TomTom forum suggests setting the audio output to line-out rather than internal speaker. I've yet to try that in the car.

However, there isn't an audio output socket!
I can play with Thomas just sitting here in the house, and when set to line-out, the internal speaker still sounds. Seems a little daft to me, but further experimentation is in order for later. :)

Regards,
Mick.
