To sell it or not ?!

To sell it or not ?!

The article is about the DVLA which holds records of all UK registered vehicles. It's also about parking tickets for which the local authority would get the car owner's name and address from the DVLA. Illegal parking and no road tax are the only things a car would get clamped for in the UK.

As the article also says, if you want to keep the car in the UK for more than 6 months, you need to register it and get UK number plates.

Every time I've entered the UK at Dover, or France at Calais, there's a low level camera that records my number plate. They use Automatic Number Plate Recognition equipment that records the number without anyone having to look at the photograph. This is administered in the UK by HM Customs and Immigration department and the police, not by the DVLA.

Yes my friend probably was unlucky, but would you want to take the risk?

you are right on that, i can't take the risk! one last question, let's say i will arrive there in August, what if i pass the borders again in January 2014...i will have 182 days for 2014,right?

The one year period is not a calendar year (1st January to 31st December), it's a one year period from when you first enter the country.

So, if you arrived on 1st August 2013 and stayed for a continuous 6 months until the end of January 2014, you would not be able to return with the same car until 1st August 2014.
