Has anyone tryied lpg on a tjet 150 bravo? If yes what system and impressions?

My brother tends to buy high performance cars, whinges about fuel costs, gets a gas conversion - " Ooooh, we aint done one of these before" - and ends up with reliability problems.

LPG is fine as a factory install, on a lower performance car, but a s aftermarket on a TJet - It'll all end in tears.

i wouldnt recommend as the tjet 150 is in a high state of tune

I disagree. You'll have problems with any install if crap kit or a rubbish installer are used.

I know my Stilo wasn't high performance, but I had no issues with that on LPG and personally fully recomend it. If my Bravo had been Petrol and not Derv the first thing I'd have had done is another conversion.

OP, go for it. The savings are quite something, but do your homework before had, shop about and use a reputable fitter, get a BRC (which I had) or Prinus kit fitted. (y)

T- Jet engine is quite high compression and bhp per litre and runs on iridium plugs, hence my comment.
I have worked at an engine manufacture and know whats involved in running on lpg, in my opinion the T-Jet is already quite highly stressed so not suitable for an aftermarket lpg conversion.

I am sure a reputable lpg specialist would decline.

I have a lovato lpg system on my tjet 150. After 75 000 km my cat got clogged (a few weeks ago). Other than that I had no problems regarding the lpg.

It could be because of the sulfur in lpg (poor quality in Croatia). I am now looking for the solution for it. Other than that I'm very satisfied with my lpg instalation because of the price compared to petrol. Now the price of lpg is at 50% of the petrol price, but a few years ago when I've installed the saving was more than 65% per liter.

the only worry i have about lpg in the uk, is how few italian cars are actually converted and therefore how much knowledge the experts really have when doing them.

if i had a focus or an astra id be more comfortable having it done, due to them being more common.

I really cannot see your logic here tbh. As said my car was converted fine, and I think you'll find there are more LPG Fiats out there than you perhaps realise ;) (not that they're all problem free mind).

if you choose the right system and the installer - you will not have any problems

when i worked at the engine manufacturer i was suprised quite how much testing and development was needed to make the engines reliable

my main concern with an aftermarket lpg conversion on any car is that there is no long term durability testing done by the manufacturer of the conversion

therefore the customer is the guinea pig

just something to think about...

Yes and no, Fiat do offer a factory Fiat LPG system on the Bravo, which is something to consider, but I'm not sure which engine its on.

LPG if installed correctly should improve the life of an engine (there are some exceptions mind with certain engines), durability isn't something that should get worse with LPG.

The down fall of an LPG system is having a crap one fitted, having a crap person install it incorrectly, and even more, not maintaining them, people think they are fit and forget, which they are not. They still need a filter change once every 20k etc. Its often a combination of one or more of the above which causes failures. As we all know, you'll hear more moaning about a failure, than a sucess story.
