battery is brand new (as in it had a good charge i just came back from a trip) i tried with driver side closed too, it doesnt even move.Hello,
I'm 100% sure it uses the same mechanism as if you use the interior button. If it starts to close the passenger window, the electric module should also be the same.
What happens when you close the driver side window before you leave the car (with the button) and then use the module to close only the passenger window?
Might be that the battery is too weak. Can you connect a multimeter to the battery terminals and observe the voltage when the windows are closing? What are the readings?
my window closes and opens normally when i try it from the buttons basically like the manual way, my only problem is that it doesnt self close when locked though everything else works. motor is working fine and is working at a normal speed. It's because you've parked the car with the wheels so steered on one side!
Nah, just kidding...It's only my OCD that's affected by that reckless parking of yours...
Your problem is most likely caused by oxidation on the windows circuit. Checking the battery voltage, as recommended by @the green vanper is good advice, low voltage can cause this. But I think it's oxidation, which technically has the same effect, low voltage to the window's electrical motor.
I had this problem many years on my Punto, driver's window. The window wouldn't move when pressing the button (there's no self-closing on Puntos), first on high humidity whether. If I insisted pressing, it would go. So I had it like that many years, but I knew there's something wrong. A couple of months ago it just wouldn't go at all, still high humidity. Then I fixed it. Started with the contacts on the door, the electrical motor. But those were ok, cleaned them with contact spray anyway. The thing is there was only 10.xx V at the motor's end when pressing the button. I went to the other end and there was the problem, at the contacts in the buttons control panel. Cleaned those and windows works great, be it rainy or sunshine.
Here's some pics.
You're welcome!
Yes, I got that. I'm saying there is oxidation on your window circuit. You gotta locate where it is exactly, I can say it's on the part that activates the self-closing. Perhaps there is a module that controls that, if so it might be easier to access than behind the buttons panel. Unplug the wires from that module and clean them contacts.my window closes and opens normally when i try it from the buttons basically like the manual way, my only problem is that it doesnt self close when locked though everything else works. motor is working fine and is working at a normal speed.
yup! there is a module but its sort of central (idk if theres a seperate one for each door) but the self closing and central lock module is located buried under the steering column/dash. i have lot of time tomorrow so i can try cleaning the motor of the malfunctioning side and see if its just oxidiation or something thats about wiring that i dont understandYes, I got that. Hoping so! just gonna close it myself until i find a good mechanic who understands these cars's electricsIt's probably some burned out transistor on it. Easy fix.
