Mileage is just short of 47,000 miles on a 2015 2.0 MJ Cross Plus 4x4. The rear hubs have suddenly (both) developed a light, tinkly noise. The noisy is NOT audible in the car during normal driving, but is easily heard when getting in or out of the car or rocking it from side to side.
I booked it in to my local dealership and the recommendation came back to strip and clean the back brakes, which I duly authorised and was carried out. The net result of this was to make the noise louder. The technician is adamant that he has checked everything and all is in order.
The only time I have experienced anything similar was on an Escort where the springs holding the front pads used to rattle as the pads wore down.
Has anybody else experienced the same or suggest any alternative expoanation?
I thank you.
