Hi all,

Not posted for a while and to be honest with the year I’ve had, being 'enthusiastic' about cars has been the last thing on my mind.

No point in going into all the detail, but my father in law was diagnosed with cancer at Christmas, but thankfully following surgery and rest he is making a steady recovery. Just as he was starting to improve at the end of March my own dad suffered the first of what turned out to be a series of severe strokes and seizures leading up to his death at the end of August.

Needless to say dealing with all this 'life' has cast a slightly different perspective on things and just one of areas of my life I've decided to 'simplify' is that of my car, so when I was fortunate enough to be offered a company car a few weeks ago I decided to accept.

You have all been great on this section of the forum and please don’t give me too hard a time over this, I'm not really in the mood. Besides I've left two other sections of Fiatforum in the past as a result of selling the 'relevant' car and received a surprising amount of disappointing remarks on both occasions - it would be a great shame to leave the Panda section with similar memories.

I will really miss the 100HP - I've only owned it since Feb this year but its been a great little car. To be honest I don’t even know if I'll sell it, but I’ve priced it at what I feel its worth after a quick look on Autotrader etc. I don’t need to sell it as such and I could hang onto it for a bit of fun at the weekends etc, but it'd make more sense to let it go - I only hope it goes to someone who appreciates them as much as us lot.

Its on Pistonheads if anyone is interested, and I might even pop it into the classifieds on here as well.

Hopefully I'll still be around as my wife has just taken delivery of a 500 pop, she's not as into it as I would be but I'm sure they will be the odd question to ask.

Thanks again to you all for the free flowing help and support, and all the best for the future - you're a great bunch(y)

Sorry to read your post Ian; like you say a close loss does tend to put a new perspective on things, as I know from personal experience. And when it comes to it, cars are just a means of getting about and we shouldn't get too wound-up about it.

Shame I'm still about £6k short of a used 100HP, or I'd make you an offer ;)

See you round, and take it easy.

Ian, I sympathise with your loss.
My father died at the age of 82 on 16th August. He didn't suffer, was in his own home until a couple of weeks before he died and basically passed away from old age in a confused state. Sometimes he even giggled in his confused little world.
In addition I've suffered an awful lot of other losses over the past 2-3 years which I won't go into.
These important losses put the value of cars, replaceable tin boxes that move you from place to place, into the full glare of their lack of importance.
Please be assured that Panda owners will find no criticism for your decision to sell and move on as most of us choose Pandas for their lack of kudos and the fact that they do not exhibit to the world our self-importance.
Be humble, be yourself and you will find true happiness.
Chris

Had similar issues over the last eighteen months - hope your spirit is as strong as it sounds.

Walk in beauty wherever you are.

Sorry to hear about your loss Ian.

As Chris pointed out, cars are insignificant they are just something that we all take for granted.

Take care and I will say what others will say, we look forward to maybe seeing you around other parts of this site.

Thank you for all your kind words of support and good wishes, they are as they have always been - much appreciated.

The car has gone now - to a very nice chap from Sheffield who drove it away earlier today.

I'm gald to say he's another Fiat/Alfa fan and the car was already putting that '100HP' smile on his face as he drove away.

Hopefully see you around, and drive carefully (y)

Sad to read this. Best wishes.

It's nice to know that your car has gone to someone who will appreciate it.
