Ticking noise when ignition on

I don't think this is a fault, I'm just Curious to know what is making it. When I go out in the morning, turn the ignition on I can hear a ticking noise. It's like a clock but bit faster. Any ideas? As I said not a big deal just like to know. Tar.

P.S If anyone knows someone who wants to buy a cheap 2001 23,000 mile ford puma have a look on ebay. No time wasters though, had enough of those already.

Sorry, its a 2001 bravo 100sx. yes the rear wiper does work. The ticking sounds like its coming from behind the heater controls.

I'm sure its all the sensors, valves etc (what ever they are called )setting them selves up for the car to start.
do it with the bonnet open and have a listen, my 1.2 does it when you turn on the ignition.
