Ticking Engine

Hi My engine has a very loud ticking noise when started from cold but as soon as it starts to get warm its just the opposite...very quiet in fact you can hardly hear it running

How long after starting does the ticking stop? A few seconds, a few mins?

Does it quieten down quite quickly to start with though?

Yes Tom and doesnt appear again till the engine gets cold

So it starts quite loud but quietens down alot over a few seconds and finally goes away totally after a few mins, correct?
