hey guys , im new here so hey :D.

anyway, to the point, last night i get in my car to head home, i start the engine with no problems, i put my foot on the throttle to pull away, and the throttle jus disapeared from under my foot and was sitting on the floor. So i lean down to see the throttle pedal sitting on the floor and i tried to pull it up and it just fell down again. but from pulling it up and letting it go again there is no engine reaction in between, so im wondering wether its the throttle return spring or the throttle cable?

Many, many thanks in advance for any replys guys.

If its a cable one, open the bonnet and follow the pipe from the air filter box to the engine, on the ending of the pipe is the throttle body, there should be a cable on it.
Pull on the cable if you can pull it out, it has snapped and you will need a new one.

If its the potentiometer kind, get under the dash where the pedal is, and way above the pedal, there should be a spring, if its snapped you will need a new one.

But if the pedal aint responding when you manually get it up and down, my guess is that you have a cable one and the cable snapped.

Ok, so i just took a look at the problem, it is a snapped throttle cable, (thanks sven, absoloute star) so now i need to know, is this a DIY job? or something for the garage to take care of? im quite good with cars and would be willing to give it a go, but i need to know how much a new throttle cable would be to do it myself, or how much fiat would charge or any other garage to do it for me?

thanks in advance for any replys

cabel should be okay from fiat, when i had to get one for my C5 it cost 28 quid plus vat, however citroen wanted about 90 to fit it :( so i assume fiat would be around the same price, i was told it was an hour job for my car...

if you are handy and have a spare few hours i would take it on my self.. also if you have to get your car towed to fiat this is also going to cost you.

Ok, so i rang fiat and they dont even make the cables anymore they said the cables are discontinued, but how can they be for such a car?! its only 9 years old and they have stopped making throttle cables, i really need some help finding a fiat bravoo 100hlx throttle cable, if anyone could point me in the right direction i would be very greatfull, im looking for one in the essex region but anywhere in the uk is postage is available is considered.

Thanks

Dario

there are firms who will make you a cable, just a matter of finding one, Search google

Would anyone happen to have a haynes guide for the bravo 1.8 and or just happen to know the exact length of the throttle cable? because if i have to send it off for it to be copied and re-made i need to provide an exact length. thanks.
