Hi all,

This is my first post here.

I currently have a 1999 Fiat Coupe 20v and am thinking of changing it for a Stilo Abarth Selespeed 3 door.

I have test drove one the other day and liked it. Im looking to buy a 2002 or 2003 model.

What things should I be looking for and what problems should I be aware off?

Also what optional extras should I go for I would quite like the leather and the sky roof but these seem quite hard to come buy.
What other options were availiable.

Also what colours did it come in. I have seen yellow and silvery grey ones.

Which colour do you think is the best? I quite like the yellow ones but are there any drawbacks with this colour like fading or anything.

Any other info would be helpfull,
Thanks

Welcome to the forum :)

Theres quite a lot colours avalible (sp) on the abarth, 2 yellows, red, 2 types of silver, black, a few blue colours, crystal green and bens colour ;) i dont know the name lol

Personally i dont think theres a colour the stilo looks bad in :) take a look round the gallery at the members cars (y)

As for things to watch for, the tyre wear issues on the inside edge on the front tyres, warning lights. The abarth owners on here will be able to give you some better details :)

Sky roof and leather interior are good options (y)

The sky window is simply the best option you can get IMO, it was well worth the extra, although if you intend to lower the car then having the sky window will require you to get a strut brace as the window adds to body flex. Obviously if you like the Fiat alloys then get the 17's but if you plan to go bigger then stay with 16's and upgrade at a later date.

Personally I prefer the dark cloth interior on the sporty plain colours like the yellows and reds but if you go for a metalic then the leather is also a must have.

Xenons are a lot of dosh so that would depend if you do a lot of night time driving, I don't so I didn't get them, but you can upgrade at a later date again.

If you do get one, the first mods you want have to be Lowering and a new tailpipe IMO. :)

Welcome to the forum BTW (y)

Hello mate - welcome to the FF. Best to go a late 2003 model - shouldn't be too many problems then - but check the tracking (see the many threads on here) as stated - specially the inside edges at the front (mine was done under warranty at 12000 miles/steering rack - lots of 1.8 + Abarths have been recalled for free replacement (inc mine). Do go for the sky roof (fantastic even with aircon) and leather. Cloth seats seats tend to ruck up - no complaints at all with my leather anyway. Fiat 17" wheels give a better ride IMHO than 16"s - alarm is a good extra as is the radio subwoofer upgrade.
Xenon headlamps very expensive but presumably worth it -electric seats very desirable but somewhat rare.

Selespeed is great - best option of the lot IMO. No problems with mine save for "clunking" on changing 2nd to 3rd - this went after Fiat changed the clutch assembly under warranty but has reappeared with no adverse effects.

SatNav Connect+ - absolutely great but everyone has had problems with the CD Changer where fitted (another optional extra). Best if you read the trheads on this. Make sure you get all the updateds to the software and maps. All available throught the FF if you smile.:D

Enjoy your Abarth mate and post some pics.(y)

Now to find one with the options, i defo want to skyroof and leather, not really worried about the other options.

Would really like the yellow I think
