Dugs correct!

Dug is being totally honest. I too have have a 2000 1.2 16v Bravo, and have just being to Newquay for a week from bradford. Drove there on 1 tank of fuel! Thats about 400 miles! Thats with 2 people in the car plus loads of luggage(i mean i had to put the seats down!), and i was driving all sorts of speeds from 70-110 depending on roads and conditions. So i was very impressed with fuel economy and the performance. Even in 5th when your doing 80+ theres still loads left in the car, just depress the accelerator a bit and whoosh up to 110. Sweet!

Mines a 1.4sx

I'm afraid the reason my fuel consumption is so poor is due to my car being the older 1.4sx slower and harder and juice than the 1.2 model....

Trev... what model do u have?

Re: Mines a 1.4sx

Hi
Mines the 1.4SX aswell, fuel consumption is pretty bad for a 1.4, but i did know that before i bought it, hence thats why i fitted the Ecotek CB26P, so far it does seem a better car to drive, more willing to go, as for fuel consumption, we'll have to see, but if it saves 10% thats a extra few miles!!!

Re: Re: Mines a 1.4sx

Put my ecotech valve on, on friday (25/10/02) and this is what I found out: -
without valve:-
on 1st run got 35mpg
on 2nd run got 33mpg

With valve:-
only had one run but got 37.9mpg but didn't notice any difference in the acceleration.

hmm...

Yet another magical web product which saves money.... I might give it a go.... lol.
Anyone with a bit of car knowledge think this would work on a Bravo, alot of the entries seemed to be American or Asian and may only suit high powered cars etc, Any ideas?

Re: hmm...

I'd give them a miss m8. It's weird it seemed to work better when I took the induiction kit of and put the old swirlpot back on, fuel consumption was lower.

So I put my Simota induction kit back on and it made no difference again?!? Strange??

Just wondering!!

Was it using more or less fuel when you put in on Rob, and was it the DIY effort you had tried. Do ya still have it?

crap

the ecotec's are crap. think about how its working, its basically letting air in past the throttle body so you have a leak, which results in an engine that runs more lean, resulting in a dead engine is constantly run like it

Re: Just wondering!!

agree tipo 16v.

Ging make me an offer Ging and it yours.

As to your other question on fuel consumption as I said in my previous post...........

With induction kit it didn't seem to make a difference.
But when I took the induction kit off and put the swirlpot back on fuel consumption was lower.

ekotek

Yep i fitted one. It made the engine (1.2) pull better through the gears and the mpg improved very slightly. The only down side is that it makes a horrible rasping noise even with the silencer on, and it needs retuning every 500 yds! Over to you mate- heads or tails

ecotek

I have to say that i have an ecotek on my car and it is fantastic.
I wrote a message on this site along time ago informing everyone that i was getting one, and that i would let you know how it was going.
Well, i have a 1.4sx and as we all know the fuel consumption is a complete joke, but i have had my ecotek for about 10 months now. I last tuned it back in May and have not touched it once now. My car does pull through the gears alot better now, throttle response is better and i usually get 300+ miles out of the tank, as opposed to the 220 i used to get.
Once you have tuned the ecotek precisely, you do not need to touch it from then on. As long as it is tuned when the engine is at its maximum temperature then there is no need to tune it for quite a while, if not ever. Take the car for a drive before tuning the ecotek so that you know the engine is hot enough. That is the safest way to know that it is being tuned at the maximum temp.

Re: ecotek

To be a bit more scientific, you should now take it off and run without it for a few tanks of fuel, and then report back if it makes a difference. That would be interesting!

Interesting!!!

I might just try that actually. Good idea!

Will let you know of the outcome some point in the near future!
