Driving home last night steering started to feel heavy and when i listened while turning and turning and pulling away a big creaking sound. Looked under me car today and there a huge crack in the n/s subframe where the wishbone bolts in, can get a screw driver inbetween it and it wobbles the wheel drastically.

any one know how much a second hand subframe will be likely to cost and how much of a nightmare it will be to fit. bare in mind the old one has clearly rotted most the way through.

something tells me it is probably time to jsut move on and get a new car :(

but i dont want to haha. I'll miss the bravo!

Its not a hard job if your good with your hands and use common sense.
You need to unbolt the wishbones which have 4 bolts each. Then unbolt the 2 steering rack bolts. Be careful not to damage the threads on these as the rack is aluminium. Probably exhaust downpipe needs to me taken out of the way. And the lower engine mount will need to be disconnected from subframe. Then take out the 8 subframe mounting bolts and off it drops!

What engine is it?
