Cheers all for a top day at Brooklands, was really good to say hello to faces old and new
As Ozric mentioned my car went Boom on the way home.
From what we can tell the clatter clatter clatter when i turn it over is the musical high notes of my valves having their balls kicked in by the pistons :/
Much gratitude and respect to Ash and Andy for detouring to help sort me out, especially Andy for ensuring I could afford to get towed home.

Gutted mate, and so soon after your return !
I know this is like a case of horse and door, but this is a damned fine example of why it's so worth getting breakdown cover.
Top marks to Andy & Ash for their assistance (that's the true meaning of a car club) but a small fee of £30-£40 could cover for this kind of thing and save a shed load of cash.
Re: Think i just set a new forum record for blowing up a car, 4days since purchase
I fully agree Roberto, I have cover but only switched cars with them yesterday and the breakdown was within the first 24hrs so not covered, I am so changing from single car cover to personal any vehicle cover as soon as I have a working car (well 24hrs before I pick it up)
Re: Think i just set a new forum record for blowing up a car, 4days since purchase
Man, that's even more gut wrenching ! I hate that 24/48 hour thing. I can understand why they do it but how unlucky is it to breakdown during that period.
Re: Think i just set a new forum record for blowing up a car, 4days since purchase
For those convoying with me after the event today you will now understand why I suddenly slowed to about 55MPH on the M25. My heart was sinking as Jay was telling me about this.
A quick call to Andy SX and once again our members proved why this is such a great club by diverting to help out a fellow BOOzer.
Re: Think i just set a new forum record for blowing up a car, 4days since purchase
talk about rub salt in the wounds, some bloke just phoned me and offered me £200 quid for the POS VW polo I've been stuck with unable to sell for the last month, and i had to say no because I'm going to have to drive it and cry my way to work every day
Re: Think i just set a new forum record for blowing up a car, 4days since purchase
Jay, if that's the one you bought is that £700 bill for cambelt? If so and you have a receipt I'd be calling Citezens advice and be suing the garage mate.
May be worth a go?
