General think about a tipo from the auction

hi all, been a long time since we had a fiat, but seen a Tipo coming up at the auction next week
at the auction there is not much you can check on, so wonder if there is a way to check service history etc online
looking at MOT history had a year where it run for 20K miles, but since then about 8K a year

any help or tips welcome, thanks

Tricky buying at auction, if it's an onsite auction go early and have a good look around it, try not to make it to obvious or it can create interest, check for signs of accident damage, not always recorded, if keys in listen to engine, dip the oil see if a funny colour, do same with coolant if cold and safe to do so. You can never see if gears or clutch faulty. Other buyers may rev engine etc. try and see what fumes are coming out the exhaust or any strange noises etc.
Remember not to overbid and allow for commission and Vat on commission charges.
Remember cars are in an auction because they are not good enough to sell at retail with a warranty.
Lastly if buying at auction I always work on the premise never to spend more than you can afford to throw away
Also remember the trader/owner may be "bidding you up" as well as the auctioneer (they are legally allowed to do that it is in their rules) you could find the price is going up and you are the only one actually bidding!!!

I aways buy from the auction, only had 1 duffer in 35 yrs so been quite lucky
need to factor in replacing cambelt etc

I would say you have been very lucky then, I have bought from auctions since 1982 and certainly had a few that I shouldn't have bought.
I have also seen experienced car dealers who have caught a cold that have been in the motor trade as long as me, since 1969!
