Morning all,

Just this morning, I noticed the water temp gauge go above the middle marks (does not do this normaly), well got to work and check under the bonnet:

1. the hoses to and from heater matrix cold (used heater to cool incase it was overheating).

2. the hose from the thermostat to top of rad was hot.

3. the hose from bottom of rad to engine warm.

4. rad fan kicks in.

5. driving at 40, on or just above mid mark on gauge.

6. driving at a higher spped, causes the temp to rise.

7. during driving temp raised and lower but did not drop below mid marks. (before today it never went above the mid marks).

8. opened the expanstion tank water raised up, then shut off, did this until water settled down look inside exp tank water level dropped, left it five mins water level drop and can not see it anymore.

please could you advise no my problem.

thankinh you in advance, guys!

Rgds

Steve

Sort of, there are differances, as stated in my orignal thread, going to fill with just tap water to get home then, check thermostat, and go from there!

Well it gave up the ghost - Friday morning.

And it was HEAD-GASKET and/or thermostat, both had gone, by the looks of the gasket that went first and with no or little water the thermostat next.

the result:
1. Starting stripping down the engine.

2. Evidence in the oil filler.

3. Evidence in the expansion bottle filler.

4. Evidence in the chamber.

5. The culprit!

6. nearly done.

7. 7hrs later finished bleeding the coolant system.

yep, and I known why, tap water was used with the anti-frezze, not deionized or distilled water, causing the head gasket to corroide.
