Hello everybody.

I've been the happy owner of Fiat Brava 100 ELX since early 1999.

I have never had any problem with it.

But since 3 month I've had strange temperature gauge attitude (over heating+very quick Temperature variation)and I suspect the thermostat.

Can someone tell me where it is located and how to change on my own?

Yhank you.

Define 'overheating'.

Does the heater still work when its doing silly things?

The usual failure mode of a thermostat is to stick open and then the engine runs cold.

Does it rise very quickly?

If so, you may have the same problem as a couple of other owners, try a quick smack on the dash just above the gauge, i'm sure that will solve it...

Sorry i don't know the cause of it, i suspect its a faulty gauge/connection...

Yes, the heater is ok.

Overheating: after running like 20 Km, the temperature gauge starts going up till the max. While at a high position it goes down suddently for few seconds and then up again.

Thank you for your help.

I've tried the "tap tap" solution on the dashboard and it works!!

I've been to my FIAT dealer and he told me that everything is ok on the engine side: it is an electrical mass problem in the dashboard.

He recommended not to do anything.
