The quick question thread

The quick question thread

its a good bet that the petrol engined ones are the same, since are all all FIRE. I wouldnt count on the rest of them though without knowing more than you know now....

(y) Ta for that.

Scrap yards will be cheaper - but you never know what your getting :(

True, will only be getting one from a rear ended car if I get one as it would seem front on collisions will damaged them, and they appear to not like grounding out by the looks of it.

Can you help.. My folks have a problem with a belligerent old farmer putting barbed wire everywhere trying to discourage the dog walkers from going over the gates rather than the knackered old styles, and gaps in the hedges of arable field that have been there for years. What cutters will chop barbed wire without too much fuss (the old man isn't as strong as he once was) that aren’t really huge and heavy? I know they shouldn’t do it, but they’re going to regardless of what i say, and i'd rather they did it without hurting themselves!

Cheers in advance

Tom

wire cutter simple bolt cutters would be like a warm knife and butter.

what should i do with the old antifreeze from my radiator?
im thinking bottle it and put it in the bin, but it may be punched in the truck. i could pour it down the toilet where it could be diluted enough to make it safe. or i could try to take it to the mini tip

You don't need to. Just talk much slower and much louder. Everyone understands that.

Don't they?

Reminds me of when we were in Spain last summer. Trying to find out where the toilets in this cafe were, and then the male toilets from the females. A note pad and paper came very in handy :p

Is it public right of way or not?

If not I do hope farmer doesn't go a shot the dogs if off the lead.

From previous posts, I think this is relevant to your area, if not your parents, though it's the same nationwide...

Rights Of Way:
Users may;
Remove an illegal obstacle sufficiently to get past (you need to be certain it is illegal first!)
Users may not;
Roam over land at will, deviating from the line of the Right of Way unless it is to pass an obstruction

Section 164 of the Highways Act (1980) says that where, on land adjoining a highway, there is a fence made with barbed wire in or on it and the wire is a nuisance to the highway, a notice may be issued by the Local Authority for the nuisance to be removed
However, it is acceptable to use barbed wire, as long as it is fixed on the back of the post and not on the front of the post facing the highway.

Landowners and farmers are responsible for:
•Keeping all paths free from obstruction
•Cutting back overhanging vegetation
•Reinstatement of paths after ploughing and keeping them clear of growing crops
•Maintaining gates and stiles
•Not ploughing paths that run along a field edge

Hope some of that is useful

In a word ''no'', but thank you all the same as you clearly didn't have that on your clipboard at the ready to paste!

I found some proper compound action 12" croppers that should do the job nicely.

Cheers

Just tell them to be mindful of whether the farmer is within his rights with the wire and with blocking off non-Rights of Way - your folks could end up in more trouble than is financially wise!

Having said that, having him repair the stile would help by the sounds of it and for environmental reasons he should re-plant the missing hedgerows

Thinking of changing my username to Soapie (Soapy is taken) dunno if I should though?

Any other suggestions?

a week ago i got a parking ticket, paid it that day over the phone looked at my bank account online and the transaction hadn't gone through yet

my balance was the same but the available balance was 25 pound less so i thought good that will go through all done and dusted

just looked at my bank account and my balance and available balance is the same yet there's no record of the transaction

so im a bit worried it hasn't gone through for some reason and im gonna get warning letters ect

also if it was paid before a certain date it was 25 pound after that it was 50 so i don't want to have to pay the 50 because they messed up

any ideas what's going on?
