I like to drive my car over snow.

Higher power RWD, when power comes it just comes. I guess you see loads of them about in the wet?

So where is the weight in the 126 ? Or you weight 200 kg +?

Ming

over snow so want to displace the weight more so you want fat tyres? to spread the weight. see this is the problem ming. Your not even agreeing with yourself so no one else stands a chamce of agreeing with you. As for having no control over the delivery of power in a skyline. Well they have never been like that when I've driven them and I also saw 2 in the snow 1 in Kirkcaldy and 1 in Kelty R34s though.
as for the weight, your kinda right 2 passengers makes over 25% of the entire cars weight and the wheel arches cut into the passenger compartment quite severly. So the majority of the weigth is nearer the front wheels.

I'm not gonna carry this debate on, you obviously feel I'm attacking you and it makes the forum look bad when mods react like that when they are not being attacked.

ming ya did contradict yourself there. but i agree with both. rwd is rubbish in the snow. there are no real arguments, snow tyres help but rwd are still not comparable to fwd in the snow if both have snow tyres on.

you want to cut through the snow to the grip below so skinny is better.

I don't think this is a debate as we could never come to a conclusion. And is funny how you feel you need to bring the "the mod" has reacted card out.

We obviously have different experiences, I see more BMW/Merc getting stuck round where i am, but clio corsa with skinny tyres just drives with no problem. Fat tyres large contact patch to the snow, much more chances of getting stuck, but I'll found a link which explains my "personal" belive, people might not but this website sure does:

http://www.ehow.co.uk/about_6586564_wide-vs_-narrow-tires.html

"The long-held belief that narrow tires are better in snow and ice is generally true. One side effect of high contact pressure is heat, which can, in many cases, squeeze any snow beneath back into its liquid state. When combined with a sipes designed to carry that melted ice and snow away, the end result is a tire that performs far better in winter conditions than wide summer rubber. Wide tires tend to float over the top of ice and snow rather than digging in."

Let me also add, I had 2 cinq, both lowered by 40mm, one stripped (13" wheels with 165/55/13) and one not stripped (14" wheels with 185/50/14), guess which one got stuck last winter and which didn't this winter ? (is much worst this year). Again this is my own personal experiences and with a sample size of "1", it doesn't hold any significance but it just backs up my personal believe.

Thanks
Ming

That should read, i want my car to move in snow regardless of over/under/dig/.

I'm chilled. :) That wasn't directed at you, it was a general thing for everyone including guests. Everyones making excuses and laying blame and nobody seems to be looking at what they could do better.
Plus that was typed on my phone so I couldn't take the time I usually do.

Ok not a problem Stu, just I could see you were getting a little annoyed.

all seasons mate aye, got part way out but just got fed up of having to stop to let andi clear the masive pile of snow infront of the car i gathered up lol, got towed out by a 4x4 and all was well :)

Yes ahem there err was err a bit of snow shall we say infront of Neo(LOL) almost up to the top of Neo's front bumper, although it was kinda funny on the way down to the M90, chopping the snow up quite a bit....

Ming! you need to calm down, as now you are a mod it looks bad when you argue over what you think is right & what Ventures know's.

Martyn, Mark, Rob- any chance you could moniter this thread please, or tidy it up so all the argument's between Ming & Ventures dissapere PLZ!!

Krav-Maga VS Kung Fu which is better?

andi saying

"think is right & what Ventures know's"

so ming is wrong as he thinks its right not knows so.?

there both right and both wrong. there right that you need to be prepared and have the correct tyres/width/ridehight for the situation. but wrong as rwd is worse, is harder and there both wrong as what they really should get 4x4's

But I don't need to drive a kid to school from my house 5 streets away. :p

Or in the case of some parent's in my village it's a case of drive a 4x4 round the corner to drop their kids off at school.
1 of them lives at the Old School house, so quickest way to get to Symington Primary School, is walk through the Park right next to the house, and cross 1 road, but no the Parent's drive their 2 children in an Audi Q7 to the school.... WHY???????
