hi

finally finsished the install of my stuffin the boot. Had everything out this morning to try and improve the earth even more (still had a slight whine, can only be heard when stereo is muted tho). But after battling with the cable for an hour, no improvement, so gave up. put everything back in and cut the cables to proper lengths so had no excess.
So here it is. My ICE install.

its the final final one for now. Until I can fgiure out how to solve that damn whining. I think I have an idea, but gotta check it out before I start re routing all the cables.
My theory is :- I have the RCA leads running down the passenger side of the car. And the power and remote lead down the driver side. Now then, there are no other cables on the driver side, but there are loads on the passenger side, making me think all the brake lights etc are running down with the Audio leads. That could be the reason I was getting ticking noises when using indicators etc right. Thats eliminated with the ground isolator box at the amp end of the RCA. BUT, this should go at the start of the RCA, which "i think"(not tested yet)stops the whining, but then I get the ticking of indicators, and brake lights going on and off.
So if I re route the power down the passenger side, and audio down the drivers, it may get rid of the problems?

what u reckon?

I got my RCA's running down the drivers side so yeah it may well be as i have no interference.

mine doesn't whine or make any funny noises an I got 2 amps in the back.
I think I mite just be lucky or i am an expert installer:D

my setup is power and front driver speaker running down drivers side to back.
passenger front speaker, RCA (is that remote turn on) and phono leads running down passenger side.

I have taped the cables separatly until they go under the door kicks and then just staggered them underneath the trim.

The only problem i have had is when u turn the volume right down it sounds like a vinyl record but u have to really listen for it, when u turn the headunit off it goes so it must be connected with the wires someway

seeing as we are all sharing

i have a slight crackle in my rear left speaker - only get it with the engine running - and it is directly affected by the amount of revs (ie high revs = quick crackle, low revs = slow crackle, engine off = no crackle) - which says to me its getting interferance with power from sumwhere - but god knows where.

and my wiring is the same power and remote on drivers side and everything else on passenger side[xx(]

amp is built into the sub (got it real cheap;)) - running the rears(13cm JBL's) directly off the headunit -can't be a loose connection at the speaker end coz they are soldered on[xx(]

hi

I was told by a mate today that I could try earthing at the headunit if thats the problem.
How easy a job is it to redo the earth for the HU ?
