Ok - I'm all finished now and quite happy with everything.
The background has been changed from drab grey, so a darker blue. Not only does this look better, but it helps draw the focus into the middle of the page - thus being easier on the eye
Have also ever-so-slightly lightened the cell backgrounds (seen on the forum listings, postings, pms etc) - it's not a drastic change, but just keeps the theme a little more subtle.
And there we have it, now all the defaults have been changed from a stock vbulletin installation and we are now super unique ... yay!
