Leaving the kart track on Wednesday night and a weasle/stoaty type animal ran into the road & stopped, like a startled rabbit right in the middle of the road ahead of me.

"No problems, that furry critter will simply go under the car, no problems, no harm caused" I thought to myself (forgeting about the newly added metalwork beneath the car). DONK as he passed underneath "whoops, that'l be the strut brace then". Poor little bugger didn't stand a chance.

Unfortunately that will not be the only small animal/rabbit to meet its end in such a way!

Last week a pair of deer (about 3 ft high) trundled across the national speed limit road I was on ... and a few weeks ago a couple of peacocks!!! one that refused to move even when I stopped and honked, I had to get out and shoo the bird out of the way

Now that you've actually hit something thats quite small, how confident are you at avoiding...

- Bricks in the road?
- Parts of shredded tyres from Lorries?
- Raised manhole covers in roadworks?

etc etc...

Most obstacles can be navigated around or avoided... but makes you wonder what would happen if you couldnt avoid something static in the road.

Thats why I didnt get one in the end.. its just to risky for the benefit

EDIT: I'd love to have one... just can see me coming to grief with it...

To be honest it would have struggled over a brick before.

I've got about 4" clearance to the strut brace, and old Rob W's car has about that to the sump (he had about 50mm drop, mines only had a 30mm drop) and he's not encountered any problems.

same issue with lower brace on Cinq Sportings

managed to beech mine on an unmade drive (n)

if you hit something imovable it would be like an arrester gear on an aircraft carrier

would also worry about kerbs on a race track

Cool, so long as it doesnt interfere with your fun of driving the car thats good :)

I'm scraping the top of speed bumps now as it is - lol... :yum:
