@ MEP - important thing to note with the insurance company, The huge lettering on the road telling HER to SLOW right before the bottleneck - this suggests to me that it was definitely your right of way.

True, although I had one just before the bend also so don't know if they'll try using that as a come back, you know what they're like.

I think I know why other party probably wants to do insurance, my damage is complete mirror unit (still in position and folds in, but nasty crack throughout it), glass, and a few heavy scratches to my window from the mirror glass. Excluding damage to my window, I've purchased a replacement unit, OEM, New and with glass for £40 delivered tonight.

Due to the speed she hit me, her mirror unit completely detached from the arm, and smashed into the door taking paint off and leaving a big crator like someone had walloped it with a sledge hammer! Probably a good £500 damage if all fixed properly taking this dent into account.

Immediately after the SLOW, there is a triangular sign - make sure you get a nice, clear picture of the SLOW and the sign - I suspect it will be

Would really add weight to your claim.

.

Ahhh, yes. BUT, yours was way back, before the bends and narrowing. At the point where you met, your road ahead was clear as you were leaving that zone. SHE, on the other hand, was coming into the zone, against the SLOW sign (and possibly road narrows sign).
YOU obviously slowed right down AND got right out of the way (as you could clearly see that she was gunning it through with no regards for life and limb).

Can you be my claims handler please :p

Makes you wonder why they put white lines down that section? Surely it just confuses the bad drivers even more and makes them think there is room for two (they can't be expected to know the width of their vehicle and whether it would fit of course!)

Terrible run of luck MEP! (n)

That's ridiculous. Someone clipped mine in similar situation last week, luckily no damage and not the brand new car.

Video looks fine to me. They did not slow? You were on the verge? You cannot disappear? There is a wide area for them to wait, their route ahead clearly not wide enough. :(

Interesting that they don't warn drivers about the narrowing, especially as it is obvious from Pic 2 that there is a passing place made especially for drivers heading in this direction.

Last time I submitted an insurance claim, I used every scrap of evidence I could to prove my innocence.
As well as my original camera footage, I drove the area a second time when the roads weren't as busy (I had to go round about three times to get the exact footage I needed). I also used pics from google earth to show road markings as well as extra pics to mark on what routes should have been taken.
I printed off all the pics AND burned 3 DVDs with all dashcam footage, plus all pics as well as a word document AND notepad document (just in case) containing my FULL written statement PLUS a FULL description of each pic as well as a written account of what is happening on the videos. The second DVD I labelled then sealed it in an envelope (clearly labelled with name, case /claim number etc) which also contained all printed documents. I made sure this was well bound with parcel tape & added "copies" to the description.
Talk about belt & braces - but I didn't want anyone saying " we didn't get...". The pack was well secured & sent recorded/signed for.
