Where is the rev limit normally on a cinq david? Someone on here informed me that the internals on an 1108 are balanced. If they are, there shouldnt be any problem running within the designated rev limit. Being an n/a it will need to be revved hard to get the absolute power outta it. How much power are you making at 7000rpm and 7400rpm?

Ross

6200 is normal. The engine has been balanced when built, but still has standard bottom end. No steel crank or anything fancy.

I am happy with it surviing at 7000, 7400 just seems a lot.

This initial set up has it at 54 at 7000, 58 at 7400. I think I'll go for the 7k limit to start, run it for a bit then check the tappet clearances and cam timning an have another run later and maybe consider the higher limit then.

If its balanced usually they can take a lot more punishment. For 4 bhp i would run the 7000rpm aswell.

Were you expecting more power david?

Ross

Don't know what I was expecting. As I said earlier it will need to run for a bit anyway before we look a bit closer.

The air filter is a GSR but its sitting behind the oil cooler. As the car gets hot, the air inlet temp rises and power ebbs away. The maniold, even with the wrapping on it is hot too in that area. Looks like the front needs opened out even more.

Not quite,

Got it back to my shed, now the rest of the work begins to get it ready for an event next Sunday. the wiring needs tidied up, I was away sorting tyres this evening, the induction needs sorting, I have some ideas on the front already.

The work is never done.

While every one else has been enjoying themselves in Stamford, I have been out doing an autotest in the Cinq.

2nd in class, doesn't seem too bad for a first time out, and not too many items on the inevitable 'to do' list.

9/10 for techy internet geeky skill...dropped one as there is no sound ;)

Looks great fun though and that thing looks like it is skating on rails! Theres not much body roll which I'd expect quite a lot of on a rally car, or do you have adjustable suspension?

I can just imagine all the squeals from the tyres sliding and spinning :D

Kristian

That would be the Leda coil overs on the front, with adjustable spring pans and Leda rears, yup.

The video wasn't mine, I was driving, it was taken on a standard digtal stills camera by eldest daughter.

I was using standard Cinq tyres on the front with 155/70 13 M and S rears, pumped up to 40 psi.

Brilliant :D One question though, how do you know where you're going?! Looks like a maze of green and pink bucket things :D

Well thats what it is. We are given a map of the layout before hand, I'll maybe go and scan one. We walk the test a couple of times first then drive it. No practising is allowed, although we do each test three times with only the best two times to count.

Cheers
