Technical temp gauge issue

Hi guys

I start the car then after a while the temp needle gets at the middle, then the thermostat opens, the needle drops 2 lines, than goes back at the middle in 1 min if at idle or a few seconds if driving. Is this normal?

Sounds Like a Sticky Thermostat valve
As normally it opens without u noticing it

However yes - what you are saying is fine
It means that the valve is opening and the water is flowing around the Pipes/radiator - So the cooling system is allowed to work

Its probably worth-while just keeping an eye on it - as if it gets stuck you'll find you'll overheat
