Technical TBM battery replacement?

TBM usually refers to the Battery Management Module / auxiliary battery system. It’s normally a small secondary battery, often located in the boot or engine bay depending on the car. It doesn’t have a fixed 5-year replacement rule; some last longer, some don’t. If you’re not getting warning lights or electrical issues, it’s usually fine to leave it, but worth testing during a service.

After replacement, you must do...

1. Check that the vehicle is located in an area where GPS and the mobile network are available.
2. Turn the key on and keep it for at least 10 min (in this case, the TBM will run some activities to connect to the server and the pop-up will be displayed simultaneously on the Radio screen).
3. Perform a Key-Off /Key-On. The Radio page pop-up will appear again.
4. Wait for 2 min and perform a key-off/key-on cycle. If a popup continues to appear on the Radio screen, the TBM is not yet ready for use. Wait another 2 minutes and perform a key-off/key-on cycle again. If the popup on the Radio screen is no longer present, the TBM is ready for use and the procedure has been completed.
5. If after 3 attempts to wait 2 minutes, perform a key-off/key-on cycle again. If the popup is still displayed on the Radio screen, open a ticket to the Help Desk (tk. EContact/Star).
