Technical Tape Deck problems

hi everyone, i have a 53 reg 1.2 8V punto mk2b and i am having problems with the tape deck. When i put a tape into the deck nothing seems to happen, the tape wont play and the eject button wont even eject the tape. So does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? thnx

dump it & fit a cd player

yeh i mean how many singles come out on tape now ? lol can pick up a cd player 4 less then £50 now go on treat yourself !!!
