tap tap tap noise from engine

Hi i have a 1.4 bravo and there has started to develop a tap noise from the engine which is getting more noticeable. please could someone tell me what this is and what i can do about it?

possibly the tappets matey which is nothing to worry about. but its a 1.4 so it could be something else

Is there anything else it could be or how can i find out if its the tappets ? Also how much would it cost if its the tappets?

the tappets are loud on most bravo's... period

they are on mine and my car has only done 24k.
Tom can tell you waht else it could be.
i'm guessing its probably that but theres always the chance itst he spray bar or something which is a weak point on the 1.4. I know sod all about that tho so I'll leave Tom to pick up the pieces

What is the age of the car? How many miles has it done - in total and since the last service?
Any major engine malfunctions of late, is it running ok?

Its done 55,000 (roughly ) only done about 1000 since last service . the only problem that it had was the idle control vale i think and that seems to be working fine now (the light used to come on ) but i took it to a garage and got it disagnosed and he said bring it back if the light comes back on.

Unless someone thinks otherwise - i'd say it is natural. Keep an eye on the oil - and wait for Tom to respond.

Hey Paul, you mentioned that you changed your Idle Air Valve Control...what where the symptoms to justify changing it?

I suspect that mine is busted as well.

Old, low milage 1.4... could be the oil feed to the cam.

First of all clean the oil spray bar.
