Off to Turin, where I work, on friday and decided to take the Idea down this time (ageing 5series or ageing Idea, risk the same but parts will be cheaper!!).
Taking the family down too so will be fairly full, cant take everything I would like but enough to survive. The disadvantage of having the glass roof is that I cant get any roof bars to fit, so boxes and bike racks are out of the equation. It should cut down on the flying home for a while, financially no better off but might get some time together.

Hoping to be there till atleast Christmas so its on with the winter tyres and topping up with full strength screen wash. Then as far as I can make out its ready. Working out the european breakdown options now.

Going Hull-Zeebrugge overnight, then straight down to Basel on the Swiss/French/German border for an overnight stop and then drop down into Turin via Como/Milan. Not my usual power through the trip in 1 go but with a 3 year old in the car its probably better for all of us to take it fairly easy.
This misses most of the tolls out and having a swiss road pass isnt a problem as we will be driving upto Zurich for the weekend a couple of weeks later anyway.

Will have to get a photo of the car outside Mirafiori where it was assembled with the care and attention only a disgruntled Italian workforce can muster.

Yep, remembered that and ebay delivered.

Thanks for warning, I bet they are looking for brits to check (and fine).

According to this week's edition of Auto Plus, a French car magazine, there won't be any fines until March because the items have been in very short supply from the start of this program.

Still going fine have done about 2500miles in Europe, quite alot of it for work visiting other sites or to the airport so its already paid for driving down. 0.48EUR/km at 38-42mpg works out fine.

Got a few extra rattles thanks to the condition of the italian roads, its a bit tougher on it than trundling around the lanes of Yorkshire.

Just started to get cold so hopefully my winter tyres will stop evaporating and I can put them to good use with a few skiing trips in the new year.
